- Bu topraklarda doğan herkes gibi ben de kusurlu genlerimizden az çok taşıyor olmalıyım ki anlattığım küçük hikayelerin hangisini yaşadım, hangisini dinledim, hatta bazılarını farkında olmaksızın uydurdum, bilemiyorum.Belki başkalarının anılarını benim sanıyorumdur.Belki gerçeklerin hafızamda kalan parçalarını örüp genişletiyorumdur ya da yaşadım sandığım şeyleri çocukluğumu dolduran kitaplarda okumuş ve o güzel yazarların anlattıklarını bizzat yaşadım sanacak kadar benimsemişimdir.Anlamak için boşluklara dokunmam, onları örmem, emin olamadığım gerçeği hikaye etmem gerekiyor. Anlattıklarımın birer hikayeymiş gibi okunmasını talep ediyorsam da tümüyle uyduruyor değilim. Yaptığım şey büyük siyah lekeleri kurguyla doldurmak, böylece başaramasa da bütün olmak isteyen bir anlatı kurmak.İlk olarak 2012'de yayımlanan Memleket Hikayeleri, Ayfer Tunç'un bir kurgu yazarı gözüyle memlekete ve memleket insanına bakışlarını, bu bakışlardan damıttıklarını bir araya getiren, onun duygu ve düşünce dünyasının yerel kaynaklarını açığa çıkaran yazılardan, fotoğraf okumalarından ve hikayelerden oluşuyor.
