Paul Newman (Actor), Joanne Woodward (Actor) Action & Adventure Editorial Review
**** The film "Winning," featuring the iconic Paul Newman, has been embraced by audiences both for its nostalgic value and its cinematographic achievements. Reviewers praise the movie for its exciting race scenes, particularly those filmed at the renowned Indianapolis 500, which many claim were groundbreaking for their time. The performances of Newman and his real-life wife, Joanne Woodward, are highlighted as standout elements, showcasing their genuine chemistry and skillful acting. Those with personal connections to the film, such as participating as extras during production, have shared fond memories, enhancing their emotional attachment to the movie. Critics note that while "Winning" may not reach the heights of other racing classics like "Grand Prix" or "Le Mans," it certainly holds its own with engaging performances and a plot that, despite some narrative shortcomings, remains compelling. The film has been described as a fascinating time capsule that captures the essence of 1960s car culture, with its Considerable drama and romance, augmented by a compelling soundtrack—though some find it a bit dated. Despite a few criticisms regarding the script and character development, especially in relation to Robert Wagner's role, viewers overwhelmingly see "Winning" as a worthy addition to the canon of racing films. Overall, "Winning" succeeds in providing both an entertaining and nostalgic experience for viewers, particularly those who have long admired Paul Newman and classic racing stories. **
