The Avengers Assemble hardcover collects the first eight issues of the newly launched Avengers Assemble series, designed to appeal to fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series is modeled on the film characters rather than just the comics, but it still fits within the comic universe. The story follows the mysterious Zodiac organization stealing powerful relics for Thanos, one of the most famous villains. The plot allows for the introduction of The Guardians of the Galaxy, another forthcoming film in the MCU, and their interactions with the Avengers are a lot of fun. Despite lacking tension in the story, the book is heavy on humor and action, much like the movies, and has a huge cast and engaging storyline. However, some reviewers felt that Bendis' storytelling ability waned, and this book is forgettable and "meh."
