- Disc brake micrometers, also known as disk brake micrometers, have a standard stock and thimble but are built with a deeper, squared-off jaw to accommodate large brake discs. They have a cylindrical spindle with a flat face and a pointed, V-shaped anvil that is used to determine the depth of the grooves on a brake rotor. These micrometers are used in automotive maintenance and operations to measure the wear grooves in disc automotive brake systems.
